The above link will take you to AWARENESS ACTIVITIES, within the EdChange Multicultural Pavilion, a website created by the National Association for Multicultural Education.

This site is an excellent source for classroom scenarios teachers can use to introduce the concept of diversity in the classroom, and to sensitize students to the issue of multiculturalism. Topics discussed range from gender choices, race, religion, and learning differences, to issues of classroom management. The site provides a wealth of multi-media that includes downloadable handouts, videos, and songs that can be sung in the classroom.

I would use this site as a form of "preventive maintenance" tool in my ongoing efforts to keep my students aware of the fact that not everyone is "just like them" in the classroom, school, or world, and that they need to learn a few things about other ways of being human.
